The Hooper-Turner House is named after the first 2 property owners; influential mid-nineteenth century pioneer families, who settled the surrounding SE Cobb County area along the Chattahoochee River. It is a rare example of an 1850s era hall-and-parlor house-type expanded by room additions built with updated materials.

Long time area residents refer to the house as a Civil War hospital. The structure is protected by the Cobb County Register of Historic Places and located in the heart of The River Line Historic Area.
